Your Mission as Controller
LEAD A HIGH-PERFORMING ACCOUNTING TEAM – Lead and align a talented team of 3-4+ accounting professionals. Create a collaborative culture that promotes teamwork, trust, transparency, accountability, and client-centric service. Foster professional development and evaluate performance while encouraging the team to lean into strengths and interests.
PREPARE GAAP FINANCIAL STATEMENTS & SUPPORT CONSOLIDATED MONTHLY CLOSE – Prepare monthly consolidated GAAP-based financial statements. Provide oversight for all billing, accounts payable, payroll, and tax reporting. Ensure corporate income tax compliance is accurate; report 1099s, W2s and 1095-C compliance. Oversee bank account reconciliations and manage cash flow with accuracy and precision. Generate and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to gauge progress toward strategic initiatives.
OVERSEE FIXED ASSET TRACKING & JOB COSTING – Oversee fixed asset tracking for equipment and other key assets, including additions, disposals, entries, reconciliation, and related communications with insurance companies. Identify and implement best practices and improvements in the job costing process. Build and develop strong relationships and positive cross-functional partnerships with colleagues and team members in project management and field operations.
DRIVE BEST PRACTICES & SPEARHEAD PROCESS IMPROVEMENT – Identify and implement best practices in accounting management and share an external perspective to lead process improvements. Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing all internal controls and financial policies and procedures. Comply with federal, state, and local legal and tax requirements, including state registrations as necessary.
Is this a Match for You?
You have a passion for driving operational excellence, continuous improvement in financial functions and best practices in accounting management. Familiarity with a consolidated monthly close process and job costing methodologies is a plus.
You have gained 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct or indirect team leadership. Experience must include either a prior team lead role, indirect or cross-functional team leadership, or direct team management experience, including an aptitude for fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
Your experience includes an aptitude and/or ability to navigate a multi-state landscape and union environment for payroll and state tax purposes. Familiarity with required union filings and master service agreements is also a plus.
Your experience includes strong technical competencies across all relevant software and platforms. You are proficient in Microsoft Applications and familiar with ERP and CRM systems and fixed asset software. Familiarity with Viewpoint ERP and CCH ProSystem Fixed Assets is a plus yet is not required.
You are well-versed in proactively communicating cross-functionally with both internal and external stakeholders. You confidently interact with team members and customers at all levels and react with diplomacy and tact. You bring experience in communicating accounting reports, priorities, and results to ownership, clients, and team members alike.
You are willing to serve as a hands-on leader with the ability and desire to flex between the strategic and tactical priorities required. Superior project management skills and a proactive mindset are required.
You have solid business acumen and are a quick study with a desire for continued professional development. Any prior experience gained in a family-owned or fast-growing entrepreneurial business, the construction industry, and or union environment a plus.
Your education includes the completion of a 4-year college degree. Advanced degree and or CPA a plus, yet not required.

Work Location & Travel
