Geeding Construction, Inc. is joining hundreds of other companies in recognizing August 11th as National 8/11 Day. This date serves as a reminder to always call 811 before beginning any digging project to have underground utility lines marked.

Every six minutes an underground utility line is damaged because someone decided to dig without first calling 811. Striking a single line can cause injury, repair costs, fines and inconvenient outages. Every digging project, no matter how large or small, warrants a call to 811. Installing a mailbox, building a deck, planting a tree and laying a patio are all examples of digging projects that need a call to 811 before starting.

“On August 11th and throughout the year, we remind our employees and their families to call 811 before digging to eliminate the risk of striking an underground utility line,” said Ron Bull, CEO, “It really is the only way to know which utilities are buried in your area and safely perform work.”

Geeding Construction, Inc. will be providing employees with One Call information packets to take home for their family and friends. These packets include homeowner manuals that outline 811 requirements, uniform color code for marking magnets, homeowner forms to gather information for their 811 calls and stickers. Additionally, Geeding Construction, Inc. will be applying new 811 decals to the backs of all trailers and trucks to help spread awareness of 811.
